Have you run for elected office before? No
Please list highlights of your civic involvement: A former state of North Carolina employee who put North Carolinians’ interest before self-interest. Be of service to others.
What are the three issues that you see as most important to your district and what will you do to address them?
Education, workforce development and transportation.
At a time when costs are rising, state government has a surplus. How should it be used?
It should be returned back to the people. A surplus means we have overtaxed our citizens.
Will you vote for Medicaid expansion in North Carolina?
Undecided.
What has the legislature gotten right, and what has it gotten wrong, about public education in North Carolina?
The legislature has taken great steps in putting the voice of parents first by passing House Bill 755: The Parents’ Bill of Rights*. The legislature has not done enough to increase educator salaries.
Should North Carolina change its abortion laws? How?
Abortion should be banned starting at some point during the first trimester.
Please add anything else voters should know about your position on the legality or availability of abortion in North Carolina.
Life is to be protected as much as possible. I do not think mothers should be criminally prosecuted or contraceptives need to be banned.
Should medical marijuana be legalized in North Carolina?
Yes.
What, if anything, should the legislature do to shape curriculum dealing with topics of race, sexuality and gender?
The legislature should not be in control of the curriculum unless it is harmful to mental development or age appropriate for the learner. I would like to see each school system have more power to develop their own customized learning materials to best fit their community.
Do you accept the results of the 2020 presidential election?
Maybe.
