Man whose body was found on I-95 was hit by multiple cars, NC troopers say
A man found dead on Interstate 95 was hit by several cars, North Carolina officials say.
His body was discovered “in the middle of” the busy thoroughfare Monday night, reports ABC11, The News & Observer’s media partner.
The man had been riding an ATV on the median when he parked near exit 41, according to a spokesperson for the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
He walked into southbound traffic, and multiple vehicles ran into him, 1st Sgt. Michael D. Baker wrote in an email to McClatchy News.
The ATV rider, identified as 25-year-old Calvin Douglas Porter, died at the scene, according to state troopers.
The deadly crash happened near Hope Mills, a town in Cumberland County and roughly 7 miles southwest of Fayetteville.
Officials investigated the death, and part of the interstate was shut down for hours, ABC11 reports. Lanes have since reopened to traffic, the N.C. Department of Transportation website shows.
