A couple’s trip to a North Carolina convenience store ended in them walking out with a $1 million lottery prize.

Jon and Karen Bell bought their lucky 50X The Cash scratch-off ticket at an OHM Quick Shop next to a BP gas station in Wake Forest, the North Carolina Education Lottery said March 3.

They ended up beating 1-in-1,647,105 odds to win one of six prizes of $1 million in the $10 game, which debuted in early February, according to lottery officials.

The Wake County couple visited lottery headquarters in Raleigh and chose to split a one-time lump sum of $600,000, which came out to $215,251 for each of them after taxes, according to the N.C. Education Lottery.

Wake Forest is about an 18-mile drive northeast from downtown Raleigh.
