Lottery player spends 50 cents – and wins huge jackpot in North Carolina

A North Carolina resident won a huge prize after placing a 50-cent bet on an online game.

The Fuquay-Varina winner was playing Bison Bonanza online when they placed the 50-cent bet that led to a progressive jackpot.

The player won $488,062, according to a Sept. 29 post on X, formerly Twitter, from the North Carolina Education Lottery.

Bison Bonanza is an online game that requires a player to match five or more symbols to win. The cost of each play can range from 50 cents to $30.

The odds of hitting the game’s jackpot are 1-in-31,034,483. The current jackpot is estimated at $77,557.
