‘Check your lottery tickets’: One lucky player in SC is getting $25K a year for life
A lottery player in South Carolina just won $25,000 a year for life.
But the lucky person hasn’t come forward, according to Holli Armstrong, spokesperson for the S.C. Education Lottery.
Someone’s good fortune came after buying the winning ticket at the S & J Mart in Boiling Springs, lottery officials said Tuesday in a news release. The convenience store is approximately 7 miles northwest of Spartanburg.
In Monday’s drawing, the person matched enough numbers to get a big windfall, officials say.
“The winner will decide between $25,000 a year for life or a one-time cash payment of $390,000 if there are less than 21 winners,” the lottery’s news release said.
If the winner chooses the annual prize, the money is guaranteed for at least 20 years, according to the lottery.
The winner has about six months to claim the prize, and officials on Twitter are encouraging people to check their tickets.
“Our message to the winner: Sign the back of your ticket and put it in a safe location until you’re ready to come forward to claim the prize,” the news release said. “Speak with someone you trust to help you decide whether to choose the ‘for life’ prize option or the one-time lump sum payment.”
Also this week, a woman came forward to claim a $1,000 a day prize in North Carolina.
She choose a lump sum and takes home more than $4 million after taxes, according to the N.C. Education Lottery.
