Man plays SC lottery with $10 in change — and pockets life-changing six-figure prize
A “spur of the moment” purchase led to a six-figure lottery win for a South Carolina man, lottery officials said.
The man stopped at College Corner in Charleston on his way to work and bought a Multiplier Surge scratch-off, according to a South Carolina Education Lottery news release.
“I had $10 in change and said give me one of those tickets,” he told lottery officials.
Once at work, he scratched the ticket to reveal a $300,000 prize.
The man didn’t clock out early after learning of his newfound fortune, though, lottery officials said.
He also told officials he’s in no hurry to spend the money and plans to deposit it at a bank.
The lottery player beat odds of 1 in 900,000 to snag the six-figure prize, the release said. Now, only three $300,000 jackpots remain in the Multiplier Surge game.
