All Triangle school systems closed their schools on Wednesday due to the inclement weather. A few districts had remote learning days where students worked on their own from home.
Conditions did not improve enough for school districts to reopen Thursday.

Schools weigh road conditions
Schools made their decisions as many streets and roads in the Triangle remain covered in snow and ice. The snow and ice are not likely to disappear on their own, The News & Observer previously reported.
Primary roads are mainly clear, according to the state Department of Transportation. But it might take until warmer temperatures this weekend to melt the snow and ice on secondary roads.
The heaviest snowfall was along the North Carolina coast. But the storm dropped snow from Charlotte to the coast.
The National Weather Service’s map of snow accumulation reports from its spotter network showed about an inch in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill and 1.3 inches in Cary, The N&O reported.
