Temperatures during the day Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24 are expected to be in the mid to upper 60s in the Triangle, Tom Green, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Raleigh, told The News & Observer in a phone call.

Overnight, the temperatures will drop to the low to mid 40s, Green said.

The weather on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, will be similar to Wednesday’s weather. High temperatures are expected in the 60s, possibly a degree or two warmer than Wednesday’s high temperatures.

Dry conditions are expected both days. There’s a 20% chance of rain near the Virginia/North Carolina border on Wednesday, but it’s not expected to affect the Triangle, Green said.

In the Triangle, there is a 20% chance of rain very early Friday, Dec. 26, around 1 a.m.

No severe weather is expected in the Triangle on Wednesday or Thursday, Green said.
