Deborah Hamilton: RDU monopoly

Regarding the April 24 news article “Uber, Lyft could face new state regulation”: Why is Raleigh-Durham International Airport permitted to operate as an independent nation?

It is important to me as a taxpayer that the airport be able to operate with a minimum of local taxpayer dollars, but the fees and restrictions placed on non-RDU operated means of ground transportation really seem like discrimination.

I thought monopolies were illegal in this country.
