Gayle Snyder: Entitled to earnings

Regarding the Jan. 3 letter “Spread the wealth”: It’s very unfortunate that there are people in this country who are so arrogant that they feel they have a right to decide who is entitled to keep the money they earn.

The man who sold his business created jobs for people, he did not exploit them. He was entitled to 100 percent of the money he earned from selling his business. It would certainly be a very generous thing for him to contribute some of his money to charity, but he had no obligation or duty to do so.

While I certainly hope that the owner of the money was generous enough to offer a reward to the finder of the money, the waiter would be guilty of stealing if he had decided on his own to keep some.
