The Durham Bulls fell 3-2 to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in Game 1 of the Governors’ Cup finals, according to a press release.
In a game that included a nearly three-hour long rain delay, the Bulls managed to get on the board first in the fourth inning before giving up three runs in the bottom of the frame. Durham would cut the RailRiders 3-1 lead in half in the seventh inning but stranded the tying run in the ninth after two deep fly outs ended the game.
Pitcher Ryan Weber recorded his second loss of the postseason after giving up three runs in five innings for the Bulls. Austin Pruitt will hope to have a better outing in Game 2 when he takes the mound for Durham.
The Bulls dropped Game 1 of their first-round series against the Toledo Mud Hens as well before rattling off three straight victories to close out the best-of-five series, with the final two coming at home. Unfortunately for Durham, it won’t receive any home-field advantage this series, as the threat of incoming Hurricane Florence has caused Games 3, 4 and 5 to be played in Scranton rather than in Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
