Live updates: ACC tournament bracket, scores and summaries of Wednesday’s games

Miami is moving on, Syracuse and North Carolina are moving on.

And don’t look now, but Duke is showing that you should never count the Blue Devils out in the postseason.

In Wednesday’s second round of the ACC tournament at the Greensboro Coliseum, N.C. State opened the day with a dud of a noon tipoff, being blown out 89-68 by Syracuse. Miami followed that with 67-64 upset of fifth-seeded Clemson, providing at least more entertaining basketball.

Then comes Duke, falling outside of most NCAA tournament bracket projections entering the week and needing to win the ACC tournament — or at least make the championship game — to avoid missing the big dance for the first time since 1995. The Blue Devils took care of business Tuesday night with a dominant victory over Boston College, and controlled Louisville on Wednesday for all of the second half to win 70-56 and advance to the quarterfinals.

Mark Williams (23 points, 19 rebounds) and Matthew Hurt (20 points) were the only Duke players to score in double-figures with Wendell Moore, DJ Steward, and Jeremy Roach chipping in with 9 points apiece.

Duke will play Florida State on Thursday.

In the nightcap, UNC dismantled Notre Dame, which was coming off a buzzer-beater victory over Wake Forest the night before. The Tar Heels won, 101-59, thanks in large to a near triple-double by 7-foot-1 Walker Kessler, who had 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocked shots.

UNC plays No. 3 seed Virginia Tech on Thursday at 9 p.m.

No. 7 seed Louisville (13-6) and Duke meet at 6:30 p.m. to start the night session with Notre Dame and UNC scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.

ACC tournament betting odds

According to VegasInsider.com, Syracuse, Clemson, Duke and UNC are the betting favorites to advance into Thursday’s quarterfinals. The N.C. State-Syracuse game opened as a pick ‘em but the Orange are now 2-point favorites with a 146 over-under.

Clemson is favored by 8.5 points over Miami and the over-under is 126.

Duke is the only lower-seeded team installed as a favorite, with the Blue Devils giving 2.5 points to the Cardinals with the over-under at 140.

In Wednesday’s final game, the Tar Heels are favored by 6.5 points over Notre Dame with the over-under at 150 points.
