A road to a win? How to watch, stream Duke vs. Georgia Tech ACC basketball on Saturday
Duke basketball’s challenging first season with Jon Scheyer as head coach continues with yet another important road game on Saturday.
The Blue Devils, perfect in 10 games at Cameron Indoor Stadium this season, have not fared as well away from home, particularly in league play. They’ll enter Saturday’s 3 p.m. game at Georgia Tech having lost four of their five ACC road games.
The latest came last Monday when Virginia Tech, having lost seven consecutive games, toppled the Blue Devils, 78-75, in a back-and-forth game. Not only did Duke (14-6, 5-4 ACC) lose the game, it also lost 6-7 freshman forward Dariq Whitehead to an injury to his lower left leg.
While originally appearing to be an injury that could render him out for the season, the condition of Whitehead’s leg is less severe. He won’t play at Georgia Tech (8-12, 1-9 ACC) but is expected to return to the Blue Devils this season.
But that doesn’t help the Blue Devils as they need a win on Saturday to avoid falling back to the .500 mark in league play at the halfway point of their 20-game ACC slate.
“We just want to get to a place where we can be ourselves and be the team that we can be 100% of the time,” Duke graduate student center Ryan Young said. “Obviously, it’s important now and it’s really going to be important down the road, you know, towards the end of the season if we want to get to where we want to be. We got to be a consistent team that comes out and plays the way we know we can play wherever.”
