Another NC State men’s basketball player enters NCAA transfer portal
Another N.C. State men’s basketball player from the Kevin Keatts era has hit the NCAA transfer portal.
Friday, Freshman Trey Parker told On3 he was entering the portal. Parker was one of the few remaining players on the roster and appeared poised to return next season under new head coach Will Wade. Instead, Parker becomes the seventh Wolfpack player to enter the portal.
The 6-foot-1 rookie from Fayetteville appeared in 27 games for N.C. State last season, averaging 4.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
Parker played sporadically throughout the season but found a stride toward the end of the schedule. He scored in double figures four times, contributing a career-high 19 points in the team’s loss at Stanford.
He also added 15 points in the loss at Duke, shooting 6 of 9 from the field and 3 of 4 from 3. Parker’s hot shooting helped the Wolfpack take a halftime lead over the Blue Devils.
Ben Middlebrooks, Marcus Hill, Dennis Parker Jr., Mike James, Bryce Heard and Ismael Diouf have already entered the portal. Wade previously said players who enter their names in the portal are still welcome to return, but there have been no reports of these players withdrawing from the portal.
Paul McNeil is the only player from the 2024-25 roster to announce his return.
Wade and his staff have picked up transfer commitments from Alyn Breed and Quadir Copeland out of the portal — both of whom played for Wade at McNeese State — while Matthew Able and Zymicah Wilkins are incoming freshmen. N.C. State continues to recruit players out of the portal.
Wade told reporters at his introduction at the end of March he planned to spend four to six weeks putting together the roster.
The deadline to enter the transfer portal is April 22, but players are not required to be committed to new programs by that date.
