The governors of North Carolina and Virginia appear to be enjoying their teams reaching Saturday night’s ACC tournament title game.

But when the final buzzer sounds in Brooklyn, and either the Tar Heels or Cavaliers are named the champions, one of the two state leaders will have more than just bragging rights to show for it.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam Tweeted at North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper on Saturday morning to propose a “friendly wager.”

“I’ve got a 6 pack of Virginia’s finest craft beer on @UVAMensHoops,” Northam wrote about 9 a.m.

A couple hours later, Cooper responded, “You’re on.”

Though Northam didn’t indicate what kind of Virginia beer he proffered, Cooper indicated he would be betting 6-packs of both Kinston-based Mother Earth Brewing and Durham-based Fullsteam Brewery.

Some people replied to Northam speculating on which Virginia beer he had in mind, and some made suggestions.

Others replying to Northam took shots at North Carolina craft beer (and apparently the state as a whole).

Some people simply had funny reactions to the wager between the governors.

Fullsteam recommended to Cooper a pale ale that comes wrapped in Carolina Blue.
