UNC vs Saint Peter’s: Tar Heels advance to Final Four
Hubert Davis’ first season leading the North Carolina Tar Heels could end in the Final Four.
At Wells Fargo Center for the NCAA tournament East Regional final, the No. 8 seed Heels will face the No. 15 seed Saint Peter’s Peacocks at 5 p.m. for a chance to advance to the Final Four in New Orleans. If Carolina can get past the Peacocks, it would face Duke for a third time this season.
The News and Observer’s C.L. Brown and Luke DeCock are on site for the Elite Eight game and will have live observations from the scene at the arena.
UNC heads to Final Four
UNC ended Saint Peter’s Cinderella run with a 69-49 victory in the Elite Eight. The Tar Heels will play Duke in the Final Four.
Final Four game times set
With one of the two NCAA tournament semifinals set, No. 1 seed Kansas and No. 2 seed Villanova will play in the early game Friday, with tipoff scheduled for 6:09 p.m.
The second game with No. 2 seed Duke and No. 8 UNC is scheduled to start at approximately 9:09 p.m.
Both games will be broadcast on TBS.
It’s gotta be the shoes
North Carolina sophomore guard Caleb Love started the game against Saint Peter’s wearing the Carolina blue Jordan 11 shoes that he changed into after a subpar shooting first half against UCLA. Love proceeded to score 27 points in the second half after switching from the black-on-black version of the Jordan 11s he had on in the first half.
Love isn’t necessarily superstitious. But he’s not wanting to make a change either.
