North Carolina men’s basketball just earned its fourth portal commitment, a source confirmed to the N&O, adding Florida Atlantic big man Maxim Logue to a class that is quickly taking shape under first-year coach Michael Malone.

Logue’s commitment comes amid a busy stretch for the Tar Heels, who have now earned three commitments on Tuesday alone.

The 6-foot-9, 232-pound French post player joins a portal group that includes guard Terrence Brown from Utah and forward Neoklis Avdalas from Virginia Tech. Freshman guard Matt Able, who spent last season at N.C. State, also committed to UNC on Tuesday — the same day Brown announced his commitment.

Together, the four transfers give UNC a mix of perimeter scoring, positional versatility and frontcourt depth as the staff continues to prioritize size, length and defensive flexibility in its roster building.

Logue should fit squarely into that blueprint.

A native of Lyon, France, Logue brings a 7-foot-4 wingspan and two seasons of college experience, split between Oregon State and, this past season, Florida Atlantic. He averaged 4.8 points and 3.1 rebounds last season at FAU, shooting 67.4% from the field in a limited bench role. He missed nearly a month with a foot injury.

His production was uneven, but his flashes were notable. He posted a 16-point, 10-rebound, three-steal performance against Charlotte and followed it with 15 points and eight rebounds against Saint Mary’s.

FAU coach John Jakus has previously described Logue as one of the most physically gifted players he has coached, while also noting that his development curve will depend on continued adjustment to the college game.

Logue’s arrival adds another developmental frontcourt piece — he will likely slot into a backup role — to a UNC roster that is still being constructed.

UNC’s transfer portal work so far

Brown should bring scoring punch on the perimeter. Avdalas offers size and versatility on the wing with point-forward ability. Able adds another ballhandler with ACC experience after transferring from an in-state rival. Logue, meanwhile, can offer UNC a rim-running, rebounding presence and more depth in the post.

The work for Malone’s staff is ongoing.

According to a source, Malone and his assistants are in Los Angeles, where several UNC targets have been working out. That group includes Able before his commitment, junior forward Henri Veesaar, and Wake Forest transfer wing Juke Harris.

Negotiations between North Carolina and Veesaar’s representation have been ongoing. The deadline for early entry players to declare for the 2026 NBA Draft is this Friday.
