This NC city was a daily double answer on 'Jeopardy!' Did a Georgia student know it?
What is Raleigh?
The City of Oaks was the answer to a question on Wednesday night's episode of "Jeopardy." The American game show is in the middle of its two-week College Championship.
Rishab Jain, a freshman at the Georgia Institute of Technology, chose the category "'R'-Town" for $800 during the semifinals round: "This North Carolina city founded in 1792 is named for a man who died in 1618."
The answer was Raleigh, which was named after Sir Walter Raleigh, the English explorer who established the lost Roanoke Colony.
Jain answered correctly, but it wasn't enough to help him move on to the final round, scheduled to air Friday night. He was beat out by Dhruv Gaur, a freshman at Brown University.
