The Food Network’s Guy Fieri will turn Wilmington into Flavortown this week
It looks like Wilmington will soon get the Flavortown treatment as Food Network star Guy Fieri blows into the Port City this week.
Fieri, who turns 50 today, is expected to film one of his popular shows “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” at spots around Wilmington. As the show’s name implies – “Triple-D,” as it’s better known – showcases the greasy spoons, burger joints, nacho artisans and smoked meat masters of America.
According to filming permits from the city, the Fieri crew will spend Wednesday and Thursday shooting at Wilmington spots Fork n Cork, Copper Penny, Something Fishy, Sweet n Savory Cafe and Ceviche’s.
Separately, Fieri will attend a sold-out breakfast and lunch event at the Country Club of Landfall benefiting the Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington.
Fieri’s country club appearance was announced last November, and scouting for his show had begun at least by December, with some on Twitter saying their favorite spots may be featured.
As word spread that the platinum blonde purveyor of Donkey Sauce was inbound to Wilmington, fans of the show expressed their delight, and some restaurants vowed to roll out the red carpet if Fieri would stop by.

“Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” has never featured restaurants in the Triangle, but he has filmed in the Outer Banks and Charlotte, so that’s one thing the Queen City can hold over Raleigh.
