UNC Rex Healthcare names 4th CFO since 2015
UNC Rex Healthcare has named a new chief financial officer, the organization’s fourth CFO in the past year.
Andrew Zukowski, 40, will assume the CFO role on Aug. 22 at the 5,800 employee organization. He comes to Rex from the University of Michigan Health System, where he oversaw finances for the system’s Hospitals and Health Centers division.
Zukowski replaces Jeff LeGay, Rex’s interim CFO. In January, LeGay replaced R. Erick Hawkins, who in turn had replaced previous Rex CFO Bernadette Spong last summer. Both Hawkins and Spong were recruited to the Orlando Health system in Florida, now headed by former Rex CEO David Strong.
LeGay will remain in an executive capacity at Rex as director of corporate finance.
Raleigh-based Rex and related medical facilities and physicians practices are part of Chapel Hill-based UNC Health Care.
UNC Rex president Steve Burriss, in a statement, praised Zukowski’s credentials.
“Andy brings an intelligent, caring leadership style that we know will fit well with our culture,” Burriss said. “He has a successful track record of working collaboratively with leaders at a large academic medical center, physician networks and smaller community hospital partners. We look forward to learning from his expertise.”
Zukowski has worked as a senior finance executive at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, Mich., since 2011. He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration.
