Here’s how you can help evacuees in Texas
If you want to help relief efforts in Texas, here is a list of a few reputable organizations accepting donations.
Before providing any credit card information to an organization, you should research it. If you find a charity not on this list or one you’ve never heard of, Charity Navigator can evaluate it for you. It rates well-known and small, local charities based on financial health, accountability and transparency.
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is offering shelter and food to residents affected by Hurricane Harvey. You can make a donation by calling 800-RED CROSS, texting HARVEY to 90999 or online.

Houston Food Bank
Whenever it is safe to reopen its location, the Houston Food Bank will provide disaster relief to residents, it has promised on social media. In the meantime, it’s accepting donations here. If there are any remaining relief funds, they will be used for hunger relief efforts throughout the year.
Airbnb
Airbnb is connecting evacuees with Airbnb hosts who are willing to provide a place to stay. The company is waiving fees for evacuees who check in from Aug. 23 to Sept. 1. Here’s where an Airbnb host can list a home for free.
