Police are investigating human remains found in a wooded area of Raleigh.

At about 6:35 p.m. on Monday, Raleigh police officers discovered human remains in a wooded area near Lake Boone Trail and Interstate 440, the department said in a news release.

A death investigation is underway.

No additional information was immediately available.
