Skeletal human remains found in woods at flea market near Mebane
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating human remains found in the woods near Mebane.
At about 12:28 p.m. on Tuesday, “skeletal remains” were discovered in a wooded area near 508 Buckhorn Road in Mebane. The remains were discovered by N.C. Department of Transportation personnel close to the entrance of the Buckhorn Flea Market, according to a news release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Evidence found at the scene did not indicate foul play.
Deputies canvassed the area and processed the scene and the remains were transported to the N.C. Medical Examiner’s Office in Raleigh for examination and identification.
No other information was immediately available.
