Man killed in shooting at Raleigh apartments; police arrest suspect, seek another

A man shot to death Tuesday night at an apartment complex in the 400 block of Dorothea Drive near downtown Raleigh was 26-year-old Raphael Deshawn Harris, police said Wednesday.

Police arrested Jamal Donte Thomas, 19, and charged him with murder. Saabirah Claratha Critten, 21, also faces a murder charge. Police said she is not yet in custody.

Raleigh is investigating the 8:20 p.m. Tuesday shooting as a homicide; police added Wednesday that it did not appear to be a random attack.

The shooting took place in part of the city housing authority’s Heritage Park apartment complex. Harris was pronounced dead at WakeMed Hospital, where he was taken after police found him.
