Man charged with robbing drug store of $6K in opiate drugs
Cary police this week accused a 19-year-old of robbing two pharmacy employees at gunpoint of more than $6,000 in opiate medications.
Jordan Alec Gentri, of 384 Clayton Pointe Drive in Clayton, has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to an arrest warrant filed Friday at the Wake County Magistrate's Office.
Gentri was first charged March 6. He was arrested three days later and charged with one felony count of trafficking in heroin or opium, according to records filed with the City County Bureau of Identification.
Investigators said a man brandishing a handgun walked into the Rite Aid pharmacy at 929 Kildaire Farm Road in Cary, where two female employees were working, on March 6.
The man used the weapon to threaten the women and rob the store of 24 bottles of opioid medicine valued at $6,683.80, according to the arrest warrant.
Gentri has been in custody at the Wake County jail since March 9 for the trafficking charges, under a $2 million bond. That amount was increased by $100,000 Friday for the armed robbery charges, a jail spokesman reported.
