Here are the finalists for principal, assistant principal of the year

The Wake County school system has announced its finalists for 2017-18 Principal of the Year and Assistant Principal of the Year.

The Principal of the Year finalists are Jonathan Enns of Fuquay-Varina High, Felecia Locklear of Brooks Elementary in Raleigh, Elizabeth MacWilliams of Carroll Middle in Raleigh, Aaron Marcin of Lead Mine Elementary in Raleigh and Mike Regan of Mills Park Elementary in Cary.

The Assistant Principal of the Year finalists are Jose Espinal of Enloe High in Raleigh, Kenya Moore-Kerr of Vandora Springs Elementary in Garner, Roxann Sykes of Washington Elementary in Raleigh, Katherine Ware of Wiley Elementary in Raleigh and Ginger Wooten of Apex Friendship High in Apex.

Candidates were nominated by their peers. The two finalists with the highest scores in the review process will be announced as the winners at a ceremony on Oct. 5.

Last year, Muriel Summers of Combs Elementary in Raleigh was named Principal of the Year, and Mary Taylor of Brooks Elementary in Raleigh was named Assistant Principal of the Year.
