Wake County school board buys site in Fuquay-Varina for new schools
Fuquay-Varina could get another elementary school and middle school in the near future.
The Wake County school board agreed Tuesday to pay $2.9 million for 62 acres of land at 1201 Bowling Road in Fuquay-Varina near Main Street and the Villages of Charleston community. The site is intended for a future elementary school but is big enough to also house a middle school, according to Betty Parker, the school district’s senior director of real estate services.
School district staff had looked at four different sites but recommended the Bowling Road property held by the Adcock Trust Agreement.
The undeveloped property is in a part of southern Wake that the district has been looking to land bank for future schools. There is no scheduled date for when the new schools would be built.
The land purchase is subject to the approval of the Wake County Board of Commissioners.
