    Kids, parents, teachers, elected officials, and community members gathered Tuesday for a press conference and community meeting organized by Defend Durham Schools in response to the selection of Lakewood and Glenn Elementary Schools by the State Board of Education as part of a new “Innovative School District,” led by Dr. Eric Hall, which will turn some low-performing schools in the state over to charter school operators.

Kids, parents, teachers, elected officials, and community members gathered Tuesday for a press conference and community meeting organized by Defend Durham Schools in response to the selection of Lakewood and Glenn Elementary Schools by the State Board of Education as part of a new “Innovative School District,” led by Dr. Eric Hall, which will turn some low-performing schools in the state over to charter school operators.
