Voting has its perks: Here’s where to get free stuff, discounts with your sticker
On Tuesday, the ever-popular “I voted” stickers are a badge of honor showing you did your civic duty and participated in a key election.
But in addition to allowing you to be smug, the stickers are good for freebies and discounts at a number of businesses that want to encourage voting.
Here’s a few businesses in the Triangle that plan to offer perks for voters on Tuesday. If you know of any we left out, email ccampbell@newsobserver.com
Krispy Kreme: Wearing an “I voted” sticker will get you a free doughnut at Krispy Kreme locations.
N.C. Theatre: Another place to get a free Krispy Kreme doughnut is the N.C. Theatre box office at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts on South Street in downtown Raleigh. The producer of Broadway shows is also offering two-for-one tickets for upcoming Friday performances until 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Videri Chocolate Factory: The sticker is good for a free 8-ounce coffee at the downtown Raleigh shop on Davie Street.
Hibernian Pub: The pub on Glenwood Avenue in downtown Raleigh is offering a 15 percent discount on all food orders for customers with a sticker.
Lyft: Free rides to the polls are available by texting “Go Vote” to 73179. The service is sponsored by the organizations Voto Latino, Rock the Vote and mitú.
Runologie: The running store on Hillsborough Street downtown is offering 10 percent off all purchases. It’s also selling a limited number of “I voted” t-shirts if you want a more permanent souvenir of your participation.
Briggs Hardware: The downtown shop on Hargett Street is offering 20 percent off all purchases.
Bob Evans: The restaurant with locations in Cary, Durham and Raleigh is offering 30 percent off coupons on Tuesday for voters – or anyone who snags the coupon online.
Uber: The ride-sharing service is touting its rides to the polls, with a $20 discount to first-time customers using the promotional code “VOTETODAY.”
Chuck E. Cheese’s: The pizza chain in Durham and Raleigh is offering a free personal pepperoni pizza with any pizza purchase – as long as you tell the cashier you voted.
World of Beer: The bar at Raleigh’s North Hills is offering customers their first beer on Tuesday for $1, although it applies only to “select draughts.”
Firehouse Subs: The sandwich shop, which has locations across the Triangle, is offering a free medium drink to customers with an “I voted” sticker.
Tijuana Flats: The Mexican restaurant with locations in North Raleigh, Cary and Holly Springs is offering a free small side for customers with an “I voted” sticker.
BurgerFi: In a nod to undecided voters, the burger restaurant with locations in Raleigh and Cary is offering its “Conflicted Burger” for $5.
