Tractor-trailer fire snarls traffic on I-40 westbound in south Raleigh
Interstate 40 westbound near the South Saunders Street exit was jammed up during the morning commute Wednesday after a tractor-trailer fire forced authorities to close two of four lanes.
The incident began about 6:20 a.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.
All lanes were not expected to be open until after 9 a.m., the agency said.
Westbound traffic was backed up past Rock Quarry Road at 7:30 a.m.
