Duke suspends Carter, Boyce for 3 games
Duke defensive tackle Brandon Boyce and safety Phillip Carter each has been suspended for the first three games of the 2016 season, Blue Devils coach David Cutcliffe announced Thursday.
No reason was given for the suspension in the announcement made by the school. The two players will continue to practice with the squad as the Blue Devils prepare for their Sept. 3 season-opener against N.C. Central.
Boyce, a sophomore from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., played 13 games as a freshman in 2015. He had 24 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 quarterback sack, one caused fumble and one QB pressure.
Carter, a redshirt junior from El Dorado Hills, Calif., has 18 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, one interception and one pass breakup in 21 career games.
