Hargrave coach to join Kevin Keatts’ staff at NC State

A.W. Hamilton will join Kevin Keatts’ staff at N.C. State as an assistant coach.

Hamilton and Keatts have a long history together. Hamilton played for Keatts at Hargrave Military Academy in 2000 and then was an assistant coach for Keatts at the Chatham, Va., prep school for five years.

Hamilton was hired to replace Keatts as the head coach at Hargrave in 2011 and compiled a 237-22 record in six seasons.

Hamilton, 36, joins James Johnson, Takayo Siddle, Thomas Carr (director of basketball operations) and Pat Murphy (strength and conditioning) on Keatts’ Wolfpack staff.

Hamilton began his college playing career at Wake Forest before transferring to Marshall in 2001. Keatts, then an assistant at Marshall, coached Hamilton with the Thundering Herd, as well.
