Loss to Clemson drops NC State out of AP top 25

Two straight losses have N.C. State out of one national poll and on the edge of the other.

A home loss to Clemson dropped the Wolfpack out of the AP top 25 and down to No. 24 in the USA Today top 25.

The Wolfpack (6-3) had been ranked for the past five weeks, reaching as high as No. 14 in the AP poll.

N.C. State followed up a 35-14 loss at Notre Dame last week with a 38-31 loss to the Tigers on Saturday. Clemson (8-1) moved up to No. 4 in the AP pollon Sunday and Notre Dame (8-1) is ranked No. 3.

N.C. State was ranked No. 20 last week by the AP voters and No. 19 by the coaches. For the first time since the College Football Playoff was adopted in 2014, N.C. State was ranked No. 20 in the CFP poll last week.

The new CFP rankings will be out on Tuesday.
