N&O All-Metro boys lacrosse team and final top 15 area rankings
Middle Creek ended the year with a N.C. High School Athletic Association state championship and the top spot in the final edition of The News & Observer area boys lacrosse rankings.
The undefeated Mustangs also placed seven players on the 30-player All-Metro team.
Cardinal Gibbons, which ended the year No. 1 in the previous three seasons, took second.
The Crusaders had four players make the team after ending this season in the 4A East final.
Cedar Ridge, the 1A/2A/3A runner-up, had two players on the team: Cole Bullard and Jack Widman.
There were two repeat selections on the team – Jordan’s Tyler Thompson and Gibbons’ Chris Wozencroft – and one three-time pick in Owen Caputo.
Behind the Mustangs and Crusaders were Apex, Broughton, Green Hope, Jordan, Leesville Road, Cedar Ridge, Heritage and Ravenscroft to round out the top 10.
Wakefield, Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Holly Springs and Athens Drive round out the top 15.
