Hurricanes unveil 'Take Warning' third jersey
The Carolina Hurricanes will be back in black again this season.
The Canes' new third jersey, made by adidas, was unveiled Friday during the team's draft party in Raleigh.
The "Take Warning" jersey has a hurricane warning logo, and also has the North Carolina state flag on ghosted patches and ghosted warning flags on the inside collar.
“We’re excited to introduce our new third jersey for the upcoming season,” Hurricanes President and general manager Don Waddell said in a statement. “We wanted to modernize our old alternate uniform while incorporating a sense of regional pride, and we feel we’ve done that with this design.”
The Canes said the mostly black jersey was influenced by the jerseys worn by Carolina from 2008-17. Canes fans believe the Canes' black third jerseys have been lucky in the past and the Canes' record has been a good one.
NHL teams were without an alternate or third jersey in 2017-18, their first in officially sponsored adidas jerseys.
