Perhaps best known for a single iconic doughnut, Krispy Kreme has picked Raleigh to test out some new flavors.

The glazed doughnut giant has picked the Raleigh market to audition nine new flavors, which could become permanent fixtures on Krispy Kreme menus.

“We love bringing our fans more flavors that they love,” said Krispy Kreme chief growth officer Dave Skena in a news release. “These delicious new doughnut varieties have been heavily requested, and we can’t wait to see our fans’ reaction We’re always coming up with new ideas. This test will assure that these new flavors are exactly the right additions to our line-up of fresh, melt-in-your-mouth doughnuts.”

The nine new flavors mark the return of some favorite limited-time offerings, plus diner requests and some Krispy Kreme inventions.

The new doughnuts are on sale now.

Here are the nine new doughnuts landing on the Krispy Kreme menu.

  • New York Cheesecake – a plain doughnut dipped in white icing, topped with crushed graham crackers and filled with cheesecake-flavored cream.
  • OREO Cookies and Kreme – a plain doughnut topped with OREO cookies & cream filling, dipped in OREO cookie pieces, then drizzled with white icing.
  • Cinnamon Swirl – a plain doughnut coated in cinnamon sugar and topped with cream cheese icing.
  • Biscoff Cookie Butter Kreme – a plain doughnut filled with Biscoff Cookie Butter flavored cream, dipped in Biscoff cookie butter and Biscoff cookie pieces, then drizzled with white icing.
  • Original Glazed Cake – the Krispy Kreme icon, but instead of yeast it’s an old fashioned cake doughnut.
  • Cinnamon Apple Filled – a plain doughnut coated with sweetened powdered cinnamon and filled with apple cinnamon filling.
  • Maple Iced – an original glazed doughnut dipped in maple icing.
  • Black & White Chocolate Chip – Not exactly like the famous deli cookie, this is an original glazed doughnut dipped in white icing, topped with chocolate icing drizzles and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • Chocolate Caramel Kreme – a plain doughnut dipped in chocolate icing, topped with a swirl of caramel flavored icing and filled with chocolate caramel flavored cream filling.

Krispy Kreme was founded in Winston-Salem and is now headquartered in Charlotte. Raleigh is one of nine Southern cities Krispy Kreme is using as test markets for the expanded menu. The others are Atlanta, Greenville, SC, Louisville, Charlottesville, Richmond, Norfolk, Greensboro and Charlotte.

The Raleigh-area stores with the new flavors include locations in Raleigh, Durham, Wake Forest, Knightdale and Fuquay-Varina.
