Known for a wide variety of chicken salads, Chicken Salad Chick is coming to Renaissance Center, a shopping center right across from The Streets at Southpoint mall.
The location is expected to open around mid- to late July, depending on construction, franchisee John Schuster told The News & Observer by phone.
Schuster and his business partner Mike Saccone also own the Cary and Raleigh restaurants, and plan to expand in the Triangle. Their next Chicken Salad Chick will be in the Academy Village development in Fuquay-Varina and is expected to open in 2027. Eventually, they’d like to have 8-10 locations across Wake, Durham and Orange counties.
InvenTrust Properties, which handles leasing for Renaissance Center, shows on its website Chicken Salad Chick taking an approximately 3,100-square-foot space next to Moe’s Southwest Grill. A leasing agent and property manager for the shopping center did not immediately respond to The N&O’s request for comment.
Renaissance Center, located at 6901 Fayetteville Road, is anchored by retailers including Nordstrom Rack, Best Buy and REI. Many popular restaurants with locations at the shopping center span cuisines, with brands such as P.F. Chang’s, Ted’s Montana Grill, Los Tres Mexican Restaurant and First Watch.
Founded in 2008 in Auburn, Alabama, the chain has since grown to hundreds of stores across nearly two dozen states.

Meals come with one or two scoops of chicken salad or pimento cheese, plus sides such as fresh fruit, broccoli or pasta salad, macaroni and cheese, and soups, a pickle and a cookie.
