The Wake Young Men’s Leadership Academy in Raleigh and Richland Creek Elementary School in Wake Forest have new principals.

The Wake County school system announced Tuesday that Xavier King will start as principal of the leadership academy on April 22 with a salary of $91,455. King has been an assistant principal at Martin Middle School in Raleigh since 2017.

King replaces Ian Solomon, who left to become principal of Leesville Road High School. The Wake Young Men’s Leadership Academy is Wake’s only single-gender school for boys.

Jennifer Abraham will start as Richland Creek’s principal on May 1 with a salary of $94.731. She has been principal of Heritage Elementary School in Wake Forest since 2011.

Abraham replaces Tammie Sexton, who was promoted to Western Area Superintendent for the district.

The Wake County school system announced several other leadership changes earlier this month:

Brian Pittman went from being principal of Holly Springs High School to Wake’s senior director for high school programs. His new salary is $114,735.

Eric Fitts went from being principal of East Millbrook Middle School to Wake’s senior director for middle school programs. His new salary is $111,000.

Paul Koh was hired to be Wake’s assistant superintendent for student support services with a salary of $128,000. He is executive director of instruction for the Oakland Unified School District in California.
