Farm Aid 2022

The fundraising concert started by Willie Nelson and friends in 1985 returns to North Carolina. Most of those who go will be there for the music. But they’ll also hear a familiar tune: America needs to save its family farms.

If you’re among the 20,000 or so people planning to go to Farm Aid at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek on Saturday, you already know it’s a long day, with gates opening at noon and the applause after the last encore ending around 11 p.m.

If you aren’t going to the show but would like to hear the music, the concert will be livestreamed on Circle Network, SiriusXM and FarmAid.org.

Some advice from concert organizers:

Pace yourself. The park covers about 77 acres, and you may have to walk a ways from where you park, and between your seat or your spot on the grass to the vendors, rest rooms and exhibitors.

It’s OK to bring in blankets, seat cushions, ponchos, rain jackets, small umbrellas, water in a sealed bottle, strollers (if you’re on the lawn) and lawn chairs that are 9 inches or less off the ground. Water bottles can be refilled at drinking fountains in the amphitheater.

It’s NOT OK to bring in alcohol, bottles, coolers, illegal drugs, laser pointers, lawn chairs with seats higher than 9 inches off of the ground, pets (unless they’re service animals), recording devices or weapons. Flash photography is not allowed. Bags are subject to search before entry.

It’s OK to have a picnic or tailgate party in one of the 9 parking lots at Walnut Creek, but don’t bring food inside the venue.

The cost of parking is included in the ticket price. Accessible parking is located outside the box office in Lot C, and while it doesn’t require a handicap placard, space is limited and those who are able are asked to use one of the other 9 lots around the amphitheater.

Alcohol will be sold at the venue to patrons with a valid drivers license or State ID card, which must be shown for every purchase.

Stay hydrated.
