The Durham Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at the intersection of Cornwallis Road and South Roxboro Street on Thursday.

Police responded to a report of a gunshot wound around 4:30 p.m. and found the injured man. Emergency Medical Services took him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Police have not released the man’s name or any other details.

As of June 6, a total of 87 people had been shot in Durham this year, 11 of them fatally.

That compares to 64 reported shootings by the same time last year, 12 of them fatal.
