Goddard School employee accused of slamming children into chairs, striking child’s hand
A Goddard School employee faces charges after she allegedly assaulted three children at school this month, media outlets reported.
Megan Mortimer Wheeler, 53, was arrested Jan. 17 and charged with three misdemeanor counts of assault on a child under 12, warrants say.
Wheeler allegedly grabbed a child by the arms to lift him up and slammed him down to sit in a classroom chair, according to warrants.
She allegedly grabbed a second student by the arm, pulled him out of line and pushed him down into a classroom chair, warrants say.
She allegedly struck a third child on the hand, warrants say.
All three children were 4 years old, and the incidents happened Jan. 8-10, according to the warrants.
Wheeler has worked at several educational institutions in the past, according to her LinkedIn page.
The Goddard School in Holly Springs has programs for infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers, kindergarteners and school-aged children, according to their website.
The Goddard School’s corporate office has not responded to The News & Observer’s request for comment and for Wheeler’s employment status.
Wheeler was released after posting $3,000 bail.
