Cary Police identify 34-year-old killed in double shooting near apartment complex

Police have identified a Cary man killed in a Wednesday night double shooting near an apartment complex.

Gilbert Noel Guzman, 34, was found fatally shot around 7 p.m. in a parking lot on Village Greenway, said police spokesperson Deanna Hawkes.

The shooting, which took place near East Cary Middle School, also left another person injured.

They were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Hawkes said.

She declined to provide details about the injured victim, or to say whether a suspect or motive had been identified.

Shootings are rare in Cary, with just two reported in the town last year, The N&O previously reported.

In 2021 so far, there have been at least four other shootings reported in Cary, one of which killed one person and injured three others.
