Second person charged with murder three months after man shot to death in Raleigh

Three months after a man was found with fatal gunshot wounds on Poole Road, across the street from the Raleigh Country Club golf course, police arrested a second suspect.

The Raleigh Police Department charged Victor Alexander Newman, 31, with murder in the shooting death of Jeffrey Gibson, 49, according to a Thursday news release.

Gibson was found shot on the 2700 block of Poole Road on July 19. He was hospitalized and died from his injuries.

Newman, of Raleigh, is the second suspect charged in this case.

Sinte Lachelle Lane, 31, also of Raleigh, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on July 25.

Both Newman and Lane were arrested on drug-related charges on June 14, a month before Gibson’s homicide.
