Durham police are investigating after a man was fatally shot in a Bertland Avenue apartment complex Tuesday afternoon.

Police received a report of a gunshot wound in the 2900 block of Bertland Avenue shortly before 3 p.m., according to a Durham Police Department news release. Gary Singletary, 52, of Durham was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.
