Woman mauled to death while dog sitting two pets, IN cops say. ‘Still in disbelief’
A woman was discovered dead after authorities say she was attacked while dog sitting at an Indiana home.
Indianapolis police found the woman “suffering from trauma consistent with dog bites” at the home on Friday, Aug. 2, according to a police report. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The woman, identified in media reports as 60-year-old Kimberly Williams, was dog sitting for two pets, police said.
“At least one of the dogs attacked the victim causing her death,” police said. “The dogs were confined in a yard. Indianapolis Animal Care Services has taken custody of the animals.”
Williams had been dog sitting for a friend who was in the hospital, WTHR reported. It’s unclear what led to the attack.
“This is a tragic incident,” Sgt. Anthony Patterson told WRTV. “IMPD views any loss of life as a tragedy, but in circumstances like this where you have animals attack ... we may never know why the dogs attacked her.”
The day after his mother’s death, Brent Hood shared the news “with great sadness and a heavy heart.”
“It isn’t fair and I’m still in disbelief of it all,” he said in a Facebook post.
