Two people are seeking to become Zebulon’s next mayor.
Mayor Robert Matheny isn’t running for another term, leaving both Commissioner Glenn York and challenger Patrick Bolger looking to become the town’s next mayor.

In August, Zebulon Mayor Robert Matheny ordered a mask mandate unlike some other Wake County towns. Do you agree with this decision?
Yes, we as elected officials must promote safe and healthy living spaces in our community.
What is Zebulon doing right, and wrong, on managing growth?
Smart growth is our main focus. The population is rapidly increasing. We are attempting to balance our residential growth with the current infrastructure needs. We engage the public input and make the public aware of continuing changes to our Unified Development Ordinances and Rezoning Projects.
If elected, what would your two or three priorities be during your first year in office?
I would continue to build on the current accomplishments.
1. Support our Law Enforcement and Fire Department
2. Improvement of existing Infrastructure/Comprehensive Land Use and Transportation Plan
3. Support Economic, Social and Commercial Development/Downtown Mainstreet Project
What unique skills or life perspective would you bring to city governance?
I believe that my 31 years experience as a North Carolina Department of Public Safety employee with administrative and supervisory skill are essential to be a good leader.
