Civic involvement: I work with NCFPSC with school supplies for kids as well as helping out across the state when things are needed. I work with an organization that helps refugees with getting jobs and placing all across the country; we have many welcome homes. Food bank work. Also worked on multiple campaigns

School test scores dropped during the COVID-19 pandemic. What should North Carolina do to improve student performance?

As a teacher we see first hand how things have changed. This starts with adequate funding of our education system. Many schools do not have the supplies they need to succeed. We need to put our futures first and our children are the future, so it is time to put them first with adequate funding.

What do you want to happen in North Carolina if Roe v. Wade is overturned?

We should be writing policy to protect women and their rights to choose. We have the power to create a law that protects them no matter what happens.

What should North Carolina do to reduce violent crime?

This starts with adequate funding in our communities. Funding for education, health care, housing, job programs, after-school programs, environmental design; these are just a few things that we can do to combat violent crime. We need to put forward policy that will bring us forward.

Should medical marijuana be legalized in North Carolina?

Yes.

What should the state’s minimum wage be? What policies would you support to help struggling North Carolinians?

I have written a policy that brings are minimum wage to $15 an hour and also allows municipalities to have some control on these issues. As stated above we need to bring a policy-forward approach in housing, education, job programs and more so that we can uplift the communities in need. No more excuses.

Should North Carolina expand Medicaid, and how?

Yes this is simple. 90% of this is paid by the federal government. We can lower state Medicaid cost actually by expanding it and save hospitals in rural areas.

Is there an area where you disagree with your party? Why?

I believe that we need leaders in there that are going to work (to) bring policy forward. We do not need finger pointing and yelling. We need policy to improve our state and that is what I am running to do. I built my business working with people from all walks of life and will do the same in office.

What are your top issues? Pick up to three.

Education; housing and poverty; and income inequality
