Have you run for elected office before? (Please list previous offices sought) In 2008 I was elected as a District Court Judge for Johnston, Harnett and Lee counties. I was reelected to my position in 2012, 2016 and 2020. In 2014 I was the Republican nominee for one of the seats on the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Please list highlights of your civic involvement: I am honored to be involved in a number of different civic and professional organizations including the Johnston, Harnett and Lee county Republican Parties and the North Carolina Association of District Court Judges (NCADCJ) Board of Governors.
What could you do, if elected, to help make the justice system more equitable or accessible?
I preside over, and continuously seek to expand and improve, the Veterans’ Treatment Court in Harnett County. Johnston, Harnett and Lee counties also serve as three of the four pilot counties for the AOC’s Integrated Case Management System (ICMS) project which will improve accessibility across North Carolina.
Tell us about a specific event in your legal career of which you are most proud.
In January 2021 I was appointed by Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul Newby of the N.C. Supreme Court as the Chief District Court Judge for Johnston, Harnett and Lee counties. I am also honored to have served on the Chief Justice’s N.C. Commission on the Administration of Law and Justice (NCCALJ).
