Name: John Tarantino

Age on election night: 65

Website: Facebook shut it down.

Occupation: Retired NC Army National Guard

Have you run for elected office before? Not applicable to my current district.

Civic involvement: My most significant civic action has been nine years of active federal military service. Also serving in the trenches holding a 20-year teaching certification.

School test scores dropped during the COVID-19 pandemic. What should North Carolina do to improve student performance?

Oh brother. If you need to ask THIS question then we’re all (in) trouble.

What do you want to happen in North Carolina if Roe v. Wade is overturned?

Repurpose tax dollars wasted upon funding Planned Parenthood targeting young women of color and use it to provide ultrasound services to help educate young women who are in distress.

What should North Carolina do to reduce violent crime?

What do you THINK?

Should medical marijuana be legalized in North Carolina?

It will make very little difference at this point. Folks are already using it like they’re drinking Kool-Aid at a Democratic Party picnic.

What should the state’s minimum wage be? What policies would you support to help struggling North Carolinians?

Allow the marketplace to determine the wage rates.

Should North Carolina expand Medicaid, and how?

What needs to be expanded is the transparent billing practices in order for the Medicaid recipients to know exactly what our medical care and medications cost. There is far too much mystery regarding HMO care.

Is there an area where you disagree with your party? Why?

I imagine there could be some hair splitting. Bottom line is I’m a patriotic American with a strong desire to preserve our Constitutional freedoms!

What are your top issues? Pick up to three.

Health care; education; crime and safety.
