More than 100 customers were without power as the Triangle braced for powerful thunderstorms.

As of 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 16, maps from three energy companies that serve Durham, Orange and Wake counties showed more than 160 customers had lost power. We have been monitoring outages as severe weather was predicted to hit the Triangle.

As of about 2:30 p.m., the strongest storms moved out of the Triangle. The tornado threat was over for our region, but twisters were still a concern for Eastern North Carolina, Phil Badgett, lead forecaster for National Weather Service, told The News & Observer.
